The blockbuster Malayalam film Loka Chapter 1: Chandra is finally heading to OTT after a record-breaking theatrical run. The Kalyani Priyadarshan starrer has become one of the biggest hits of 2025, earning over Rs 300 crore worldwide. Loca Chapter 1: Chandra to stream soon on Jio Hotstar
After several weeks of wait, the makers have confirmed that Loca Chapter 1: Chandra will soon stream on Jio Hotstar. The platform teased fans with a post that read, “The beginning of a new universe. Loka Chapter 1: Chandra – coming soon.” Although the official release date has not been revealed yet, but if reports are to be believed, the streaming of the film may start from October 17, 2025.
The fantasy-action film directed and written by Dominic Arun was produced by Dulquer Salmaan under his banner Wayfarer Films. Along with Kalyani Priyadarshan, the film stars Naslen, Chandu Salim Kumar, Arun Kurian and Sandy Master in lead roles. Jacques Bejoy’s music adds to the emotional and visual appeal of the film.

The film, which released across theaters on August 28, 2025, received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike for its innovative concept and large-scale storytelling. The story revolves around Chandra, played by Kalyani Priyadarshan, a superheroine who blends myth and modernity.
The film has completed 50 days in theatres, and is still running on over 200 screens, a rare feat in today’s short theatrical releases. According to the Economic Times, it has grossed over Rs 181.85 crore in India and has maintained strong performances in the Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu markets.
Fans are now looking forward to the digital premiere to relive Chandra’s story sitting at home. Earlier, there were reports suggesting an OTT release on September 26, but it got delayed. Now, with new reports pointing towards October 17, the excitement has reached new heights.
Loca Chapter 1: Chandra not only performed brilliantly at the box office, but also introduced the audience to a new cinematic universe. Dulquer Salmaan has already teased the sequel, Loca Chapter 2, with Tovino playing the role of Thomas Chattan.
