She said, “I honestly feel that I have managed to build a two-decade-long bridge of trust with the audience. So that’s also my vision of being the anti-diva on screen. I’m ready, I’m ready to look raw, I’m ready to look tired and worn out, and whatever the character demands.”

“I’m willing to look raw, tired or exhausted – whatever the character demands. That honesty packs a punch that feels stronger than something overly scripted,” she explained.

Choosing stories that connect with audiences

Singh also spoke about how his project choices have shaped his reputation. According to him, he has constantly tried to balance commercial storytelling with stories that promote discussion.

“Most of the projects I have chosen are not only commercially viable but also conversation starters,” he said. He suggested that this balance may be one reason why audiences associate his work with the phrase “Mona’s magic”.
