Neslen and Mamita Baiju starrer Premalu released in theaters in 2024 and was a massive hit at the box-office. While a sequel titled Premalu 2 was earlier announced, it now appears that the project has been shelved by the makers.

According to a report by online portal Kerala Box Office, Premalu 2 has been shelved by the makers. The sequel was announced during the success celebrations of the first installment and was reportedly planned on a much larger scale than Premaalu.
However, it now looks like the sequel will not be going ahead. Although this is unconfirmed, early speculation suggested that the final script failed to impress Neslen, leading the actor to walk away from the project.
Although these claims are based on rumors at the moment, official confirmation from the manufacturers is still awaited.

Premalu is a Malayalam language romantic comedy-drama which was released in 2024. The film revolves around a young Sachin, who is unlucky in both love and life and dreams of going abroad to pursue higher studies in the United Kingdom. However, after failing to secure a visa and with time remaining before reapplying, Sachin decided to stay in Hyderabad with his close friend.
As he settles into the new city, Sachin meets Reenu, an IT professional, and falls in love with her and tries to win her over. Whether Reenu reciprocates his feelings or her efforts are in vain forms the crux of the story.
Starring Naslen and Mameetha Baiju in the lead roles, the film also stars Sangeet Pratap, Akhila Bhargavan, Shyam Mohan, Meenakshi Raveendran, Matthew Thomas, Althaf Saleem and many others in pivotal roles.
Co-written and directed by Girish Eddy, the film was produced by Fahadh Faasil, Dileesh Pothan and Syam Pushkaran under the banners of Bhavana Studios, Fahadh Faasil & Friends and Working Class Hero.

Neslen will next be seen in the lead role in Mollywood Times, directed by filmmaker Abhinav Sundar Nayak of Mukundan Unni Associates. This film is scheduled to release on 15 May 2026.
Additionally, he will be working in projects like Asif Ali starrer Tiki Taka, Suriya’s tentatively titled police action film Suriya47 and Amal Neerad’s Bachelor Party D’Ex.
Meanwhile, Mamita Baiju is set to be seen in upcoming films including Thalapathy Vijay starrer Jana Nayagan, Dhanush’s Kara, Suriya46 and Nivin Pauly starrer Bethlehem Kudumba Unit.
