A day after Madhuri Dixit faced criticism for allegedly arriving three hours late to a live event in Canada, the show’s organiser, True Sound Live Ltd, issued a statement clarifying the reason behind the delay. The event, titled Madhuri Dixit – The Golden Girl of Bollywood, took place on November 2 at the Great Canadian Casino Resort in Toronto.
Organizers of Madhuri Dixit’s Canada show clarified the delay caused by miscommunication from her team: “This delay was completely beyond the control of True Sound Live Ltd.”
According to the organizers, the delay was due to miscommunication from the actress’s own management team. The company said Madhuri was given “misinformation” about her call time, causing confusion and disappointment among attendees who were waiting for her performance. This clarification came after social media users criticized both the organizers and Madhuri for the delay and lack of transparency in the format of the event.
Terming the controversy as “misleading social media commentary”, the organizers said, “We would like to clarify the facts regarding the recently held Madhuri Dixit – The Golden Girl of Bollywood show in Toronto following misleading social media commentary at True Sound Live Ltd. The event began exactly as scheduled with a high-energy opening act featuring the extraordinary singers of Indian Idol.”
He further explained, “As Madhuri Dixit’s management was informed, the format of the show consisted of a question-and-answer session at 8:30 pm, followed by a 60-minute performance segment of Madhuri. However, despite our production team’s preparation and constant communication throughout the evening, Madhuri Dixit’s own management team gave her incorrect information about the call time, resulting in her arriving late around 10 pm. This delay was entirely due to True Sound Live. Ltd.’s control.”
The organizers also blamed “certain individuals backstage” for creating further confusion during the event. The statement read, “We also wish to clarify that some people backstage, including Shreya Gupta, were busy recording individual videos instead of supporting the timely coordination of the artiste, thereby adding to the confusion. Madhuri Dixit’s presence and performance on stage is clearly visible in the attached video, and we invite the public to view the footage and judge objectively.”

Another attendee expressed disappointment, saying, “I’m glad I saw her, but I left at 11:05 pm because I had work the next day. I honestly don’t know if it was the organizers or she who decided that she would come at 10 pm. On my ticket, the start time was written at 7:30 pm. It didn’t mention any pre-show. I expected it to be an interaction with some singing and dancing. It started very late and took up a lot of the audience’s time.” Was disrespected.”
