Famous actor Pankaj Tripathi and his business manager wife Mridula Tripathi are all set to take a quantum leap in theater production with their newly formed banner Roopkatha Theatre. His first production, a musical comedy titled Lailaaz, will also mark the stage debut of his daughter Aashi Tripathi.

Written, directed, composed and lyrically driven by Faiz Mohammad Khan, Lailaaz promises a refreshing blend of humor, music and a heart-touching story. The musical will be staged on 21st, 22nd and 23rd of this month at Rangshila Theatre, Mumbai, giving audiences an exciting new theatrical experience.
For Pankaj Tripathi, whose journey on the stage began long before cinema embraced him, this first production holds a deep personal significance. He says that theater is his “first love” and returning to it as a producer feels like life has come full circle.
Speaking emotionally about this new beginning, Pankaj Tripathi shared, “Rupkatha Theater is not just a production house for us, it is an emotional extension of our roots. My journey as an actor began on the stage, in the simplicity of backstage chaos, borrowed costumes and the magic of performing for a live audience. Theater has taught me honesty, patience, spirit and discipline. Whatever I am today, I owe a big part of it to those early days. “When Mridula and I decided to start our own banner, I had a strong desire that our first production honor the medium that shaped me, ‘Lailaaz’ is our humble tribute to theatre, craft and every artist who finds their truth on stage.”
Pankaj adds, “What makes it even more special is that our daughter, Aashi, is making her stage debut with this musical. As a father, I feel immense pride; as an actor, I feel a deep sense of responsibility; and as a producer, I feel the excitement of creating something meaningful. Watching her rehearse, struggle, improvise and shine reminds me of my early days. Aashi in Lailaaz Inception is not just a moment for our family, it is a reminder that every artist should love the process, and theater is the purest place to develop that love. I hope the audience will show the same warmth, curiosity and encouragement to this play as they have always given me.
Sharing her thoughts on stepping into production, Mridula Tripathi said, “Rupkatha Theater was born out of a shared dream of preserving and promoting heart-touching stories. Theater has always been close to our lives, and choosing a musical comedy like Lailaaz felt like a perfect start. The play represents happiness, chaos, music and human emotions in its simplest yet most beautiful form. As a mother, Aashi was inspired to make her debut in this film. It has been a very emotional experience to watch. And as a producer, I am thrilled to bring to the stage, a project that celebrates the timeless charm of creativity, teamwork and live performance, and we are excited to present our first production to the world with so much love and honesty.
