Prime Video, one of India’s most loved entertainment destinations, today celebrated Vijay Varma’s birthday by announcing the worldwide premiere date of its upcoming Prime Original drama Matka King on 17th April. Created and written by Abhay Koranne and produced and directed by Nagraj Popatrao Manjule, the series is set in the rapidly changing Bombay of the 1960s and traces the fictional journey of an enterprising cotton trader who creates a new gambling system called ‘Matka’, turning a niche pastime into a nationwide phenomenon.

The series is produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur, Nagraj Popatrao Manjule, Gargi Kulkarni, Ashwini Sidwani and Ashish Aryan under the banners of Roy Kapur Films, Aatpat and SMR Productions. Matka King stars Vijay Verma, Kritika Kamra, Sai Tamhankar, Siddharth Jadhav, Bhupendra Jadawat and Gulshan Grover in lead roles, along with Vineet Kumar Singh, Bharat Jadhav, Girish Kulkarni, Jamie Lever, Kishore Kadam, Cyrus Sahukar, Arpita Sethia, Sambhaji Tangde, Ishtiaq Khan, Sanjeev Jotangia and Simran Ashwini. Are in roles. The series is set to premiere on April 17 in India and 240 countries and territories across the world exclusively on Prime Video.
