Inheritance fight over the huge wealth of late industrialist Sanjay Kapoor. There has been a sensational twist in the property worth Rs 30,000 crore. On Tuesday, Sanjay’s third wife Priya Sachdev Kapoor vehemently opposed any forensic investigation of the will, which forms the basis of her claim to control over his personal wealth and the Sona Comstar group. The petition for scientific investigation – including handwriting, ink and paper analysis – was pressed by Sanjay’s children from his previous marriage, Samaira and Kiyan Raj Kapoor, who argue that such investigations are vital to confirm authenticity.
Priya Kapoor’s fight over Sanjay Kapoor’s money. Dramatic twist in property worth Rs 30,000 crore amid will dispute!
Legal experts say Priya’s resistance is highly unusual in a probate dispute of this magnitude, as courts routinely rely on forensic tests to settle doubts over will documents. He warned that blocking the process could raise doubts over the will which completely excludes Sanjay’s biological children.
Adding fuel to the fire, the alleged executor of the will, Shraddha Suri Marwah, has dramatically changed her stance on how she received the document in the first place. Initially claiming that Priya had submitted it on 24 June, Suri later said that it came from Dinesh Aggarwal on 14 June, reverting to his original version after reviewing Priya’s submissions. These ups and downs, along with her admission that she was unaware she was named executor and lacked independent legal advice, have raised eyebrows. His request for compensation from Priya and his reluctance to examine the will further deepen the suspicion.
Senior lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani, representing Samaira and Kiaan, argued that under Indian law, an executor cannot be appointed without prior consent. If the will fails judicial scrutiny, Sanjay’s property will be transferred equally among all the first-class heirs – this has also been acknowledged by Suri’s lawyer.
The Delhi High Court will hear both the forensic inspection petition and Suri’s modification application on January 20, 2026, a date that could decide whether the will reflects Sanjay Kapoor’s true intentions or will collapse under scrutiny.
For those unaware, Sona Comstar Chairman Sanjay Kapoor died suddenly during a polo match in Windsor, England on June 12, 2025. The disputed will, dated March 21, 2025, reportedly left his entire personal property, except the children from his previous marriage to Karisma Kapoor, to Priya and her minor son Azarias. The dispute has become one of India’s biggest legacy battles, involving allegations of forgery, concealment and even conspiracy.
