Hollywood’s science-fiction action adventure film project Hail Mary has finally been released in theaters in India. The Ryan Gosling starrer debuted with Rs. 3 crores at the Indian box office, which is a good start in a limited release.
It is a non-IP sci-fi film, which generally does not find many takers in India. With that in mind, Project Hail Mary is off to a good start. However, it took advantage of the holiday in many parts of India. The goal should be to grow over the weekend and then maintain the same pace.
Project Hail Mary was originally planned for release a week earlier. However, it was pushed to avoid a direct clash with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge.
Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, Project Hail Mary closed its 4-day extended opening weekend with around Rs. 9 Crore to Rs. 11 crores in India, which would be an encouraging start. And then it can hold well on weekdays and stay in theaters for a long time. The film has received a very positive response from the audience, which will help it grow at the box office.
The Ryan Gosling starrer film is performing well in its domestic markets and other overseas territories. For the record, the sci-fi action adventure film has already crossed the US$100 million mark in its domestic markets, becoming the fastest release of 2026 to achieve the feat in just 6 days. It is now on the verge of surpassing Dune’s entire theatrical run at the US box office in just 7 days of its run.
