Project Hail Mary Worldwide Box Office Collection: Ryan Gosling’s Sci-Fi Film Holds Strong Third Weekend, Cums With US$421 Million

The project Hail Mary continued to perform well at the box office even after the release of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. The sci-fi action adventure drama grossed US$31.8 million in its 3-day third weekend at the US box office. There was a 41 percent decline in the film’s earnings from the previous weekend. When compared to other big films, the Ryan Gosling starrer recorded a better third weekend than Gravity, Dune Part Two, The Martian, Interstellar and others.

By its third Sunday, its domestic revenue reached US$218.3 million. It surpassed the lifetime domestic gross of Interstellar ($203.2 million), which includes all of its re-releases. The film is now set to touch the US$300 million mark by the end of its theatrical run, aiming to reach closer to US$310 million.

Outside of its home markets, Project Hail Mary grossed approximately US$203.4 million in international territories, bringing its global gross to US$421.7 million. Based on current trends, the film is expected to cross the US$450 million mark by the end of Tuesday, and then it will move towards US$500 million.

It follows Ryland Grace, an American middle-school science teacher and former molecular biologist, who wakes up one day on a spaceship after a deep coma, unaware of how or when he got there. Slowly finding clues and remembering his mission, he befriends an alien named Rocky and sets out to complete his task, which will help Earth survive.
