The Delhi High Court on Wednesday, February 12, heard the bail plea of Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav in the long-pending check bounce case and directed the complainant to file a reply. This development comes a few days after the actor surrendered in Tihar Jail after his last-minute plea for relief was rejected.

During the hearing, the counsel appearing for Rajpal Yadav informed the court that a formal bail plea has been filed on behalf of the actor and requested that the opposite party be asked to file its reply. The lawyer also told the bench that he has been unable to establish contact with Yadav and sought additional time till Monday, assuring the court that he would “find some solution.” He further requested for a brief adjournment in the matter.
Taking note of the arguments, a bench headed by Justice Swarn Kanta Sharma directed the complainant to file a reply to the bail plea. The court later adjourned the matter till Monday when the application will be considered after the reply comes on record.
However, the hearing was not without sharp comments from the court. The bench reportedly commented on Yadav’s conduct, noting that the actor had been jailed after failing to honor commitments made earlier in the case.
Rajpal Yadav is currently serving a six-month jail sentence after the Delhi High Court rejected his plea seeking relief in the check bounce case. He surrendered in Tihar Jail on 5 February.
