Rashmika Mandanna reacts to viral audio clip controversy, calls it an “invasion of privacy”; warned of legal action
In her note, Rashmika explained that the audio currently being circulated online appears to be from a private conversation recorded almost eight years ago. “To my dearest people who have been with me on this incredible journey so far. And to others related to this matter – it has been 8 years since the sustained campaign of misinformation, harassment and targeted attacks by a section of the media and online individuals began against me.”
She continued, “I’ve watched my words be taken out of context, words I never said turned into false stories, and hatred magnified for ideas, reach, and engagement. During this time, while it pained and hurt me, I chose patience and silence. I accepted that being in the public eye sometimes brings unfair criticism, but as long as I stay true to myself and am happy, all around me Spreading happiness, things will fall into place. However, what has happened in the last 24 hours crosses a line that cannot be ignored.”
“An old private conversation, believed to be from approximately eight years ago, appears to have been recorded and broadcast without the knowledge or consent of those involved. A small part of that conversation has now been deliberately taken out of context and widely circulated to create another inconvenient controversy – strategically coinciding with recent developments in my personal life. How far can people go? In doing so, they have dragged my family along with the people I am with. It is a serious invasion of privacy and spread of abusive content. While we move forward in life, do meaningful work, it is unfortunate that some people continue to create hatred and peace at the expense of other people.
