Red, White and Royal Blue has its sequel confirmed! On October 15, Prime Video announced the return of the second part of its much-loved gay romance film. The book-to-movie adaptation, called The Red, White, and the Royal Wedding, will be directed by 5x Emmy-nominee Jamie Babbitt. Gemma Burgess, Matthew Lopez, and Casey McQuiston, the original author of the book Red, White & Royal Blue, will step into the role of screenwriter. Most importantly, Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez will reprise their roles as Prince Henry and Alex Claremont-Diaz, respectively, in the sequel.

As of now, the story behind The Red, White, and the Royal Wedding is being kept under wraps, but the film’s name pretty much gives away the context of what fans can expect. Beloved Prince Henry and Alex Clermont-Diaz are likely rekindling their love story amid their chaotic, politically charged wedding. The question is whether it will be their own or become the backdrop for their fun romance.
The announcement was made with a short teaser clip for waiting fans of the franchise, which takes a page from the bustling world of the Red, White and Royal Blue. With the sound of high-tempo live music playing at a banquet, glasses of wine and other alcoholic beverages pouring from all sides, and the noise of rich, influential people cavorting in their high-end outfits, the film’s Instagram account teased the upcoming sequel. It reads, “Did someone say something about a wedding? The Red, White and Royal Wedding is coming to Prime Video!”
The globally popular film, released in 2023, based on the 2019 novel, stars Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez alongside Clifton Collins Jr., Sarah Shahi, Rachel Hilson, Stephen Fry, and Uma Thurman. It depicts the love story between the son of the President of the United States and a British prince, whose very different but extremely similar lives draw them together.
