2026 will be off to a great start for Akshay Kumar as he is all set to start shooting for Anees Bazmee’s next entertainer. Now it has come to light that the film will go on floors in the second half of January.

According to an Instagram post by Vicky Lalwani, the shooting will begin on January 19 in Mumbai. About two weeks ago, Anees Bazmee had confirmed to Mid-Day that he is indeed working with Akshay Kumar again. Thank you (2011). He also said, “There is mutual love and respect between us. He was very happy when I told him about this film.”
A few days after this interview, news came that Vidya Balan would be paired with Akshay Kumar. Vicky Lalwani revealed in his post that he spoke to producer Dil Raju, who confirmed that Akshay and Vidya have indeed been signed for the film.
It is reported that this is a remake of the project sankrantiki vasthunam (2025). Dil Raju tells Vicky Lalwani that Akshay-Anees’s film is not a remake and only the basic concept is taken from the Venkatesh-starrer.
The project also marks Akshay and Vidya’s first on-screen collaboration in six years, following their successful work in mission mangal (2019).

While details about the second female role and the story are still under wraps, insiders suggest that it will balance the humor, emotion, and strong character arcs that both Bazmee and Akshay are known for.
The film will be produced by Dil Raju’s banner Sri Venkateswara Creations. Producer Sirish of this production house told Gulte at the recently concluded 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) that they are planning to make a film with superstar Salman Khan and it will be directed by Vamshi Paidipally, who is known for directing popular films. Baby (2007), Brindavanam (2010), Yevadu (2014), upper (2016), Maharishi (2019) and heir (2023).
Finally, Sirish also confirmed that his prestigious production house will produce a film starring superstar Pawan Kalyan.
