Actor Salman Khan recently announced an important update for his upcoming war drama, revealing its new title Motherland: Let there be peace in war. This project was previously known as battle of galwanAnd the revised name points to a marked change in tone and message.

Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film is inspired by the India-China military clash in Galwan Valley in 2020. Salman Khan will play the role of late Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu in the film, the shooting of which initially began in Ladakh in September 2025 and was scheduled to be completed by December the same year.
However, the project is currently undergoing extensive changes. According to a report in Mid-Day, the team is reshooting portions of the film in Mumbai from February 2026, with around 40 days of additional work planned. The revised schedule includes the filming of new scenes with the aim of reshaping the narrative.
One of the notable additions is a Chinese language song, which will be composed by Himesh Reshammiya. It is expected that after the song is finalized and recorded, it will be filmed on Salman Khan.
These changes are reportedly influenced by emerging geopolitical circumstances. Reportedly, the makers rethought the film’s approach in light of the cautious thaw in relations between India and China. Given the sensitivity surrounding the Galwan clash, the team is said to have opted for a narrative that puts more emphasis on the themes of peace, harmony and the human cost of war rather than focusing solely on the conflict.
With its revised title, additional scenes and new thematic direction, Motherland: Let there be peace in war It appears that it is taking a different shape than its original concept.
