Actress Shilpa Shetty’s husband, businessman Raj Kundra, turned 50 on September 9, 2025. However, his milestone birthday falls under the cloud as the Economic Offenses Wing (EOV) has called him in connection with a fraud case of Rs 60.48 crore. According to reports, Kundra was initially directed to appear before the investigators on 10 September, but demanded expansion. He has now been asked to appear on 15 September.

Meanwhile, a look out of a circular (LoC) has been issued against both Kundra and Shetty to prevent leaving India. According to a report by the Free Press Journal, a senior EOV officer confirmed that summons also issued to the Auditor of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) as part of the investigation.
The complaint was filed by Deepak Kothari (60), director of Lotus Capital Financial Services. He alleged that between 2015 and 2023, he invested Rs 60.48 crore in the best deal TV Private. Ltd. – A company promoted by Kundra and Shetty – for business expansion.
Kothari claimed that instead of being used for business, money was discontinued and diverted for the couple’s personal use. He said that he was introduced to Kundra by a mutual acquaintance and was assured of monthly returns with the re -investment of major investment.
At the time of investment, Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra organized 87.6% shares in the best deal TV, an online shopping and retail platform. However, Shetty resigned from the company in 2016. Kothari later came to know that another investor had initiated an insolvency proceedings against the firm after accusing the promoters of fraud.
Eow had earlier called Shetty and Kundra three times during their preliminary investigation. The couple sent their lawyer, citing their stay in London. Investigators found the information provided by Attorney inadequate, which led to a formal FIR registered.
The case has been filed under IPC section 403 (dishonesty of assets), 406 (criminal violation of trust), and 34 (general intentions).
While the 50th birthday of Kundra is an individual milestone, the ceremonies are likely to take a backseat as the businessman prepares to face inquiry by the EOV. The investigation is expected to intensify in the coming days, with the LoC ensuring that neither Kundra nor Shetty can leave the country until the investigation increases.
