A day after reports of a complaint against upscale restaurant chain Bastian, co-owned by Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty Kundra, surfaced, the actress has issued a strong clarification. The Bengaluru outlet reportedly remained open beyond the permissible closing time, leading to a case being registered against them under Section 103 of the Karnataka Police Act, triggering widespread speculation.

Addressing the matter, Shilpa Shetty took to social media with a detailed note, emphasizing that the matter is under investigation and cautioned the media against drawing premature conclusions. Their statement read, “We categorically deny the baseless and motivated allegations being circulated. The issues sought to be raised are being given a criminal color without any legal basis. A petition has already been filed before the Honorable High Court and the decision is pending. Having fully cooperated in the investigation, we are confident that justice will be served and we have full faith in the law enforcement authorities and the judicial system of our country. We respectfully urge the media to exercise restraint as the case Under consideration.”
The controversy began when reports claimed that Bastian’s Bengaluru branch hosted a lavish private party, allegedly violating local rules by staying open much past the scheduled closing time. Due to this, a complaint was lodged with the police and discussions intensified on social platforms. While the investigation is ongoing, Shilpa’s note underlines her belief in due process and her appeal for responsible reporting.
Adding to the chain’s troubles, Bastian’s Mumbai outlet in Dadar faced an Income Tax raid on Wednesday. Although the details of the search campaign are unknown, time has increased people’s curiosity about the brand. So far neither Shilpa Shetty nor the restaurant management has commented on the IT action.
As the legal proceedings unfold, all eyes are on the outcome of the High Court petition and the ongoing investigation. For now, Shilpa Shetty’s tough stance signals her intention to fight what she calls “motivated allegations” while maintaining faith in the judicial system.
