Rising tensions in the Middle East due to the joint US-Israeli attacks on Iran and the subsequent retaliation have disrupted air travel across the region, leading to mass flight cancellations, airspace closures and stranded passengers – including many high-profile individuals.

Sonal Chauhan, Bollywood actress, best known for her debut role in the 2008 film paradisehas publicly appealed for help after finding himself stranded in Dubai. In a post on social media (shared on platforms like Instagram Stories and X), he wrote: “Honorable Prime Minister @NarendraModi ji, I am currently stuck in Dubai due to the ongoing crisis, flights have been canceled and there is no clear way to return to India. I respectfully seek guidance from the government for a safe journey home. Grateful for any support given.”
Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi issued an advisory in response to the “current regional situation”, urging all Indian nationals in the UAE to:

- Take appropriate precautions and be alert
- Follow safety guidelines and advice from UAE authorities and Embassy

The UAE has imposed temporary airspace closures, contributing to suspensions at hubs such as Dubai International Airport. India’s Civil Aviation Ministry reported that more than 410 domestic carrier flights were canceled on February 28, 2026, with about 444 flights expected to be canceled on March 1, affecting routes to Europe, the US, Canada and the Middle East. Airlines have prioritized safety, offering rebookings, refunds and flexibility for affected passengers.
