SS Rajamouli announces Rs 120 crore animated Baahubali film, Prabhas takes a dig: ‘That was our first part…’

Ever since Baahubali producer Shobu Yarlagadda revealed that there will be a surprise announcement with the theatrical print of Baahubali: The Epic, fans have been wondering what it could be. Now, when SS Rajamouli sat down with Prabhas and Rana Daggubati for a promotional interview, he treated all the Baahubali fans with the biggest surprise.

SS Rajamouli, who is currently busy producing Mahesh Babu starrer SSMB29, has confirmed a 3D animation film based on Baahubali. The maverick filmmaker revealed that the teaser of the upcoming animated film will be shown during the hiatus of Baahubali: The Epic. He also revealed its title, Baahubali: The Eternal War. He said, “We are releasing the teaser of Baahubali: The Eternal War. It is not Baahubali 3, but it is a sequel in the world of Baahubali. It is basically an animated film. It is a very high 3D animation.”

The renowned filmmaker revealed that Shobu Garu (Shobu Yarlagadda) has worked on the project for more than two and a half years and revealed that the budget of Baahubali: The Eternal War is Rs. 120 crores. He said, “Now we are coming up with a film which will cost around Rs 120 crore.” Prabhas was stunned to see the cost of production. He jokingly said, “120 crores? That was our first part of the planning budget of Baahubali.”

SSR highlighted that the animation studio that worked on the popular anime, Arcane, developed this film.

Regarding Bahubali 3, Rajamouli said that this will definitely happen in future. “Baahubali 3 is the last thing,” he said. He also showed the teaser to Prabhas and Rana, who were left amazed by the vision, scale and grandeur of the animation film.

For those unaware, Baahubali: The Epic is releasing in theaters on October 31, 2025. It is a stand-alone film that includes both parts of the Baahubali franchise. With a runtime of 3 hours and 44 minutes, the period action drama is expected to set new records for upcoming re-release films.
