Aamir Khan Productions has officially announced the theatrical release date of its upcoming period drama as August 13, 2026 Lahore 1947. The film will release in theaters during the Independence Day week, with a historical and emotional backdrop at the heart of its story.

Lahore 1947 This marks a significant first-time collaboration between Sunny Deol, director Rajkumar Santoshi and producer Aamir Khan. The project has already generated considerable anticipation, not only for its subject matter but also for bringing together the creative forces who have individually shaped some of the most memorable films of Hindi cinema.
Recently, Aamir Khan also shared a personal moment from the film, which has taken on deeper meaning after the demise of veteran actor Dharmendra. Speaking about the experience he said, “I was fortunate that I got a chance to spend some time with him (Dharamji). In fact, LahoreI had the privilege of showing him the film we have made with Sunny. That’s why he has seen the film. Of course, it hasn’t been released yet. But I was very happy because it was one of his favorite scripts. I am very happy that he got a chance to watch the film.”
The film has strong actors like Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh. The music is composed by AR Rahman, with lyrics written by Javed Akhtar, adding further weight to the creative lineup of the project.
