Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari entered the second week with Rs 1.75 crore, down 20 per cent from Thursday. The film grossed a nett amount of Rs 42 crore in 9 days of its theatrical release. It is expected to add around Rs 8 crore in the second weekend. Although the trend is not good, it has enough merit to slightly surpass the Rs 50 crore mark and end its theatrical run around Rs 55 crore nett at the domestic box office, thanks to Buy-One-Get-One deals. If there had been no supply, the film would have struggled to even reach the half-century mark.
However, nothing can change the fate of Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari as the damage has already been done in the opening weekend itself, when it failed to register the much-needed growth. The film ended up being a box office failure. Fans will have to wait a little longer for a perfect comeback of Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor.
Shashank Khaitan’s disappointing box office result has proven once again why the industry needs to set things right and change the OTT window from 8 weeks to at least 6 months. Audiences are very unpredictable in this post-pandemic period. What worked 6 or 7 years ago is now struggling at the box office. Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari had a pretty good trailer and the songs were also nice but they couldn’t help but attract the audience to the cinemas. Creators need to bring something new and unique in today’s times to succeed at the box office.
