Amid the long delay in the film, which is said to be the superstar’s last film before moving on to a different field, his father, Indian film director SA Chandrashekhar, has reacted. Showing unwavering faith in his child and faith in possible outside interference, he assured that the actor will not be stopped.

The filmmaker reacted to the delay of Jan Nayakan, which was earlier slated to release on January 9, 2026, but CBFC cuts and other reasons have put its premiere on hold across India. The 80-year-old suggested that the film industry has changed due to a number of factors and that the public should be aware of what goes on behind the scenes. SA Chandrasekhar pointed to possible external factors, saying, “Everyone knows why Jana Nayagan has not been released.” Expressing confidence in his son’s determination and quality of work, he said, “Vijay is not afraid of anything. His chances of success are bright.”
Speaking openly about how normal it is for people changing careers to face setbacks and obstacles, she displayed a strong resolve. “Vijay will have to face many such hurdles,” he was quoted as saying by Mid-Day.
Meanwhile, there is no concrete update on when the film will actually hit theaters. After several rounds of talks, Thalapathy Vijay and team wait for relief. Directed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan also stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol and Mameetha Baiju in pivotal roles.
Earlier, news of the film being banned in Saudi Arabia had also surfaced on the internet. There is also discussion on cutting some parts and reapplying for censorship as per local demands.
