Thamma is looking for a good start around Rs. 23 crores to Rs. Earning of 24 crores on opening day. This is an impressive debut considering the film’s cast and cost. However, the film is supported by a successful universe. Stree 2, the last film in the Maddock horror comedy universe, collected around Rs. 600 crores nett and its earlier one, Munjya, without any face value, at Rs. 100 crore plus. It is expected that Thamma will continue its great performance at the box office.
The film has performed well in Delhi-UP, Rajasthan and Mysore on its first day. The Eastern Circuit has also performed well. However, Gujarat could have been better. The film has a good base to earn during the holidays and then the weekend will start. Since the film has opted for a Tuesday release, it will get a long weekend.
According to estimates, the 6-day extended weekend will probably cost Rs. 100-110 crores, depending on how it performs going forward. With better trends at the box office, Rs. 120 crores is possible. From there, if the film can reach Rs. Earning 200 crores, it will be a good result for the film.
Diwali has a very good track record in comedy. Over the years, Golmaal Again, Housefull 5, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and others have earned big and emerged as money earners, making the festival more entertaining. Ayushmann Khurrana’s film is also expected to be a winner this Diwali.
For those unaware, this film marks the first love story of the horror-comedy universe. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Thamma is receiving overwhelmingly positive reviews among the audience.
