The director of Harry Potter, Chris Columbus, does not plan to return to the world of wizards. The filmmaker, who took place behind the camera for the original film of the franchise, revealed that he would not be part of the next adaptation of the HBO series.
Addressing reason, Columbus, in conversation with Variety, shared that the public saw its version, and there is nothing to experiment.
Although the filmmaker withdrew from the Harry Potter series, that does not mean that he is against. Instead, Columbus hopes that the manufacturers of the show cover the details of the books they missed in the films.

While sitting for an interview with the media portal, the director spoke of his reason behind not returning to the franchise. Columbus said, “No, I did it; you saw my version.” He added: “I have nothing left to do in Potter’s world.”
Chris said about the new show: “The great thing about this is that with the first, second and third books, we wanted to do everything.” We wanted to bring all this to the screen, and we did not have the opportunity “, referring to the company’s borders of the characters present in the novels which” never entered the film – we simply did not have time to develop the character. “”
The veteran filmmaker considers the Harry Potter series as an opportunity, where even the smallest details can be added.
Elsewhere in the talks, Columbus continued to assert that he had obtained a moment “already seen” when he saw Dominic McLaughlin and Nick Rost respectively in their characters in Harry Potter and Hagrid, respectively. The director said: “Because it was exactly where we were 20 years ago! We had to shoot it on a Sunday with Dan (Radcliffe) and Martin Bayfield, who defended Robbie Coltrane. ”
The Harry Potter television series is currently in production, with the casting and the crew for the first season in England. The show should arrive at digital screens in 2027.
