Troubles are increasing for Manoj Bajpayee’s film Infiltrator Pandit. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has reportedly personally directed the state’s law enforcement agencies to file an FIR against the director, producers and team members of the film. This significantly adds to the growing list of challenges facing the development project.

The dispute over Manoj Bajpayee’s film Ghuskhor Pandit reached the court; Netflix is reconsidering the release
teaser trailer of Infiltrator Pandit-which translates to “corrupt priest”, has triggered nationwide protests. Several organizations and individuals have demanded that the title of the film, which they describe as “racist”, be changed immediately.
The Sarva Brahmin Mahasabha in Jaipur has strongly opposed the title, saying the controversy extends beyond cinema or entertainment value. According to the organization, the title reflects the deepening caste-based mentality which it considers unacceptable.
In Bhopal, members of the Brahmin community have taken to the streets to protest against the film and its title and are demanding the removal of the trailer. The protesters have warned of nationwide agitation if their demands are not met.
The matter has also reached the court. A PIL has been filed in the Delhi High Court challenging the title of the film.
Amid growing controversy, Netflix has reportedly removed teasers and promotional materials Infiltrator Pandit. Earlier in the day, there were speculations that the title of the film may be changed. However, this writer has now been informed that the film may be removed from Netflix’s slate entirely.
