Taj Story is estimated at Rs. Wanting to collect. Earning of Rs. 40 lakh on 14th day, Rs. in second week. 6.65 crores. The drop compared to last week is about 40 percent, which is reasonable for such a small budget film. For the record, the film made Rs. Earned Rs 10.75 crore in the first week. Two-week Q reached Rs. Earning Rs 17.40 crore at the Indian box office.
Directed by Tusshar Amrish Goyal, the film faced Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam starrer HAQ in the second week, yet managed to hold on to some ground. However some series had irregular collections, which may be due to organized screens at some locations, as The Taj Story is a politically motivated film. One would assume that a film revolving around the Taj Mahal would do best in Delhi-UP; However, it did best business in Mumbai.
The film will now clash with Ajay Devgan’s De De Pyaar De 2 in the third week, which means the film is now in its final stages unless there is a surprise surge.
Apart from Paresh Rawal, the film also stars Zakir Hussain, Namit Das, Amrita Khanvilkar, Shishir Sharma, Sneha Wagh and Brijendra Kala. Although the film received negative reviews, it still found its target audience and emerged as a surprise hit.
