Vashu Bhagnani calls court relief in Tips Music dispute a “victory for all producers”: Report

The case involves rights related to several popular films Coolie number 1, Hero number 1, Wife number 1, Bade Miyan, Chote Miyan, your magic has worked. And i have something to say. The controversy also concerns the proposed release and exploitation of If you are young then you have to fall in love Starring Varun Dhawan.

According to an ANI report, in statements issued through his legal team, Bhagnani said that the court’s “status quo” order applies to all the films, songs and music rights mentioned in the lawsuit. According to the producer’s lawyer, “I believe he has not read the court order carefully. The order clearly states that the entire music rights, songs and films mentioned in the plaintiff’s suit fall under the ‘status quo’ order.”

The statement further said that actors, filmmakers, producers and technicians associated with this case may also have to answer before the court. The lawyer said, “Certainly, all the actors, director David Dhawan, producers, technicians and every other person involved in the case will have to appear before the court and file their reply; otherwise, they may be liable to face contempt of court proceedings.”

Bhagnani’s legal team described the interim relief as an important step for producers in the film industry. “Certainly, this is a win for all producers, and they must come together to assert and protect their rights,” the statement said.

The producer also expressed concern over monetizing songs that were recreated and remixed without proper permission. Referring to the songs from his films, the lawyer said, “If someone misuses it without my consent, my rights are directly affected and it also causes huge financial loss to me.”

Bhagnani further alleged that neither he nor his company were informed about the alleged recreation of certain songs. “No, they neither contacted me nor informed me in any way about the recreation of the song,” the statement said.

The controversy also touches on the larger issue of the evolution of digital rights in the entertainment industry. Bhagnani argued that in earlier years producers had given only music rights and not rights related to video streaming, social media or OTT platforms. “Even during that era, producers were given only music rights and not video streaming rights, social media rights or OTT platform rights from which music companies are now earning huge revenues,” the statement said.

Legal proceedings in the matter are currently ongoing.
