Senior and versatile Hindi film actor Govardhan Asrani, popularly known as Asrani, passed away at Arogya Nidhi Hospital in Juhu, Mumbai at around 4 pm today after battling a prolonged illness. He was 84 years old. His manager Babubhai Thiba said that he was cremated at Shastri Nagar in Santa Cruz in the presence of his close friends and family.

Originally from Jaipur, Rajasthan, Asrani’s death marks the end of an era in Indian cinema, especially in the field of comedy acting.
