Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and his wife Shwetambari Bhatt have been sent to seven-day police custody by Additional Senior Civil Judge and Additional Chief Magistrate, Udaipur Court. The order comes a day after the couple was detained in Mumbai by Rajasthan Police in an alleged IVF fraud case.

This development has shocked the media and film industry. Vikram Bhatt and Shwetambari Bhatt were arrested in Mumbai on Sunday, December 7, in a Rs 30 crore fraud case registered in Rajasthan.
According to PTI, the case involves allegations against Udaipur-based Dr Ajay Murdia, founder of Indira Group of Companies. Dr Murdia has claimed that he was promised returns of up to Rs 200 crore, but the assurance was never fulfilled. Along with Bhatt, six other persons have also been made accused in the case.
A Times of India report said that the Udaipur police team coordinated with the Mumbai Police to carry out the arrest. The couple was detained from Andheri’s Yari Road and produced before a holiday magistrate in Mumbai, who granted two-day transit remand, allowing Rajasthan Police to take them to Udaipur for further proceedings.
IHNS It is learned that Vikram Bhatt had made a special request before the magistrate regarding his visit to Udaipur. A source revealed, “Vikram Bhatt was informed that he would be taken to Udaipur by road. Seeing that the journey would take around 15-16 hours, he sought permission to travel in his Mercedes car. However, the court rejected the request, following which he traveled in a vehicle arranged by the Udaipur Police.”
Meanwhile, the case has also created uncertainty over the promotion of Vikram Bhatt’s upcoming film Haunted – Ghosts of the pastAn industry insider told IHNS, “Vikram Bhatt had planned to launch the trailer Haunted – Ghosts of the past On 19 December. Given the current situation, it remains to be seen whether he will be able to go ahead with the schedule.
