Film producer Vikram Bhatt has spoken after an FIR was registered against him in Udaipur alleging fraud. The case registered at Bhupalpura police station claims that Bhatt and his production company failed to deliver the films promised under the multi-project agreement. However, the filmmaker says that the allegations are based on misinformation.

What is the claim in the FIR
Udaipur District Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal confirmed that Dr. Ajay Murdia has filed a complaint against Bhatt’s company accusing him of taking money for four films and not working as per the contract.
According to the complaint:
- An agreement was signed to make four films in memory of Dr. Murdia’s late wife.
- The money was reportedly paid in advance.
- Only two films were made, and they were reportedly not given proper credit.
- This film with the highest budget never started.
- Police have started investigating the allegations and are reviewing the evidence.
Vikram Bhatt says the police is being misled
Responding to the FIR, Bhatt told ANI that he came to know about the case through media reports and did not receive any official communication. He clarified that, as per what he read, the FIR claimed that he was motivated by “greed of Rs 200 crore” to commit a scam of ₹30 crore, which he strongly denied.
He said, “I feel the Rajasthan Police is being misled. I have not received any letter or notice – nothing. If the complainant has made such claims, he should have the paperwork. Otherwise, the police do not register such cases.”
Bhatt questioned the complainant’s version
Bhatt also challenged the complainant’s statement that he was unfamiliar with the film industry. “If he didn’t understand the industry, why did he start so many films on his own? And if I allegedly fooled him then why did he make a third film with me?”
He alleged that the production of one of his projects, Virat, was halted midway due to the company’s own business decisions – specifically, an upcoming IPO. According to him, the complainant did not pay the technicians involved in the project, which led to the delay.
Filmmaker claims he has documents
Bhatt said he has email conversations and contracts to support his version of events. He said, “I have been in the industry for so many years and have never faced anything like this. I don’t understand what this means. Now we will ask them for proof of what they have filed.”
Bhupalpura Police continues to investigate the complaint, documents and statements of both the parties. Further action will be taken based on what emerges in the investigation.
