Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has warned that if his film is released, he will follow the legal support Bengal files Prohibited in West Bengal. The statement came during a press conference after the disintegration of the trailer launch of the film in Kolkata.

Addressing the controversy related to Gopal Chandra Mukherjee – whose grandson Santanu Mukherjee has filed an FIR, claiming that the film has been depicted as “butcher” by the film – Agnihotri clarified that the character is “an inspired character and is not central for the plot.” He said, “I will not go into his history. Look at Santanu’s interview. I can give you all the links. There is an interview of Gopal Mukherjee on BBC. In that interview, what he has said has only shown that he has only shown. I am nothing with Gopal Mukherjee’s life. He was a hero. He was a hero.”
He said, “I respect Gopal Mukherjee very much. His grandchildren work with TMC. There is a compulsion … he has done it legally. We are giving a legal answer to it.”
Agnihotri did his work as an attempt to bring “untold stories of India”, “Our aim is very clear. I make films on Hindu civilization. That is why I make films on Hindu history. I do not consider myself able to make films on Islamic history or Christian history.”
