Lokesh Kanagaraj debuts as lead actor in Arun Matheswaran’s DC

The title of the film was announced by the production house Sun Pictures through its official social media handles. Sharing the update, he wrote, “Sun Pictures proudly presents DC starring Lokesh Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi. Directed by Arun Matheswaran. Anirudh Music.”

The title video features Lokesh in a blood-soaked avatar, with a scruffy hairstyle and an unkempt beard. Covered in blood, he walks forward with a knife in his hand and introduces his character as Devdas.

Meanwhile, Wamiqa Gabbi has been introduced as Chandra, the co-lead and the protagonist’s love interest. Visually the film appears to be a romantic gangster action drama, with a powerful and gorgeous music composition by Anirudh in the title video.

Although further details about the film are yet to be revealed, Arun Matheswaran previously directed Captain Miller, which starred Dhanush in the lead role. After the success of the period action film, it was expected that the director would work on a biopic of Ilaiyaraaja; However, no further updates have been announced on that project.

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s work front

Lokesh Kanagaraj recently hit the theaters with his directorial venture Coolie starring Rajinikanth. The film tells the story of Deva, a former daily wage laborer who remains traumatized by a crime from his past.

However, when his brother-in-law and best friend dies under suspicious circumstances, Deva is forced to face the truth that is linked to his own past.

Apart from the superstar, the film also stars Nagarjuna Akkineni, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Shruti Haasan and many others in lead roles. Bollywood actor Aamir Khan played a small role in the film.

Looking ahead, Lokesh is expected to work on the Kaithi sequel, Kaithi 2, starring Karthi, although an official update on the project has not been announced yet.
