Zootopia 2 has maintained a strong hold at the box office. The animated buddy cop action drama grossed US$31.8 million in international markets in its 7th weekend, bringing the overseas gross to US$1.28 billion in its 45-day theatrical run. With a gross of US$378.7 million in domestic markets, the Zootopia sequel grossed a whopping US$1.66 billion at the worldwide box office.
The film will this weekend surpass the all-time earnings of The Lion King and Jurassic World (US$1.67 billion) and Inside Out 2 (US$1.7 billion) and become the 10th highest-grossing film of all time at the worldwide box office. Crossing Inside Out 2 would mean that Zootopia 2 would become the highest-grossing Hollywood animated film of all time.
Zootopia 2 is still strong in its domestic and two major overseas markets, China and Japan, and is set to end its overall turnover at around US$1.8 billion to 2 billion. It remains to be seen if the film has enough fuel to surpass the lifetime earnings of Ne Jha 2 to become the biggest grosser of 2025 at the worldwide box office.
For those unaware, the film has already become the biggest Hollywood grosser in China, surpassing Avengers: Endgame. Now it is setting new standards for upcoming releases.
