According to a statement issued by Mumbai-based law firm Semwal & Company, Advocates & Solicitors, actress Celina Jaitley is being succeeded by her husband Peter Haag and her father Wolfgang J. Haag has sent two legal notices.
Celina Jaitley receives legal notice from husband Peter Haag and father-in-law amid ongoing court proceedings
The notices have reportedly been sent in relation to statements and allegations the Haag family has made through social media platforms, interviews, digital publications and other media channels in recent months.
According to the statement, Peter Haag’s father and grandfather of the couple’s children were played by Wolfgang J. A notice has been issued by Haag. The second notice has been issued by Peter Haag, who has cited concerns about his reputation as well as the privacy and welfare of the couple’s three minor children.
The legal notice states that matrimonial and child custody proceedings between the parties are currently pending in the Austrian courts. The Haag family has alleged that despite the ongoing judicial process, various public statements and media reports containing allegations against Peter Haag and other members of his family have continued to circulate.
The family has denied the allegations that have surfaced in public statements and media coverage, including claims related to domestic violence, emotional abuse, threats, harassment, relocation of children, and issues related to religion and fundamentalism.
A major aspect of the notice relates to the couple’s children. The family has expressed concern over the public discussion of cases involving minors, including the use of their names, photographs and personal details in media reports. According to the statement, such publicity has exposed the children to unnecessary attention during the ongoing legal process.
The notice further states that the family believes that the alleged publication is defamatory, an invasion of privacy and interference in the ongoing judicial proceedings. The demands outlined include the removal of certain content, a public explanation and apology, and a bar from making further public statements regarding the ongoing legal case and the children.
Commenting on the issue, Solicitor Yasha Shah, Partner, Semwal & Co, said, “Laws designed to protect women are one of the most important safeguards in a civilized society. However, when matrimonial disputes are transformed into public media trials through unverified allegations and emotional narratives, the sanctity and purpose of such laws gets diluted. Legal remedies must remain instruments of justice and protection, and not instruments of public condemnation or reputation destruction.”
Peter Haag and Wolfgang Haag reserve the right to pursue civil and criminal remedies if the demands outlined in the notice are not complied with, the statement said. The family has also stated that it does not intend to make further public comment at this stage due to the ongoing proceedings before the Austrian courts.
