Exclusive: Spider-Man: Bhai Tera Star Hai targets 900-1000 screens despite Brand New Day clash; Vivek B Agarwal says, “There were no other viable weekends until the end of February 2027”
Vivek B Aggarwal said, “To be honest, there is no strategy. I did my homework. After the July 30 weekend, I don’t know if I will get another chance to release my film by the end of February 2027. Either there are some big Bollywood films, a solo monster film or a combination of Bollywood and pan-India South films. There is something happening every week or every other week.”
He further added, “Besides, I realized that besides dhamaal 4 In July, there were no major Hindi releases until mid-August. It was a choice of either clashing with a big Hindi film or releasing alongside Spider-Man. Therefore, this was the only viable option. I thought that since there has been no Hindi film release for almost a month, I would release my film in the middle of this dry period and attract the audience who might prefer watching Hindi films rather than English.
When asked about the screen count, Vivek replied, “PVR Inox Pictures is distributing the film in India. We are targeting 900 to 1000 screens.”
The promo of Bhai Tera Star Hai is reminiscent of the small-budget high-concept films that production houses like UTV and Phantom (of which Vivek B Aggarwal was a part) used to make regularly in the 2000s and early 2010s. Moreover, such films can surprise with dramatic performances, as proven by i will come backA film that was probably seen as a digital film before it became a box office surprise. So how important was it for Vivek to give brother is your star Theatrical release instead of going straight to OTT?
Vivek B Aggarwal told, “I agree with you to a large extent that there has been a change in mindset. At the end of the day, if the film is good, people come to the theatres. Raghav and I were very keen that brother is your star There should be a theatrical release. We decided to go out and engage in a marketing campaign where he is interacting with people and asking them to watch the film in theatres. Accordingly, he is constantly touring the city and communicating with potential audiences.
He further added, “Also, at the end of the day, the content has to work. People have to like the trailer and the songs and then decide whether they want to see it in theaters or not. I think we are achieving that balance. People are liking the trailer and the comedy part. It’s rare to have a film like this with this kind of humor and ensemble cast.”
He further added, “Also, I think people are tired of sitting at home and watching dark, serious thrillers, which make up almost 80% of OTT content. it is not that OTT Pay Bhasad comedy getting banned. Mainly, Only dark, serious me and toxic material Hi I am getting banned. So, if a film offers them something new, I think they would love to give it a chance.
