The latest statement comes soon after reports that AICWA president Suresh Gupta had written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis demanding registration of an FIR against Bhansali and compensation of Rs. Rs 1 crore to the family of the deceased worker and there will be a high level inquiry into the incident.

According to reports, 42-year-old carpenter Chandradhari Singh Yadav allegedly died of electric shock during the shooting of a film on the morning of June 17, 2026. He is survived by his wife and two young daughters. Addressing the incident, AICWA president Suresh Gupta alleged that the death occurred due to failure to maintain adequate safety measures on the film sets.

Referring to the incident, Gupta said, “On the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming film on June 17, 2026. love and warOne of our workers dies. He is 42 years old, has two young daughters and a wife. This incident happened around 1:30 or 2 o’clock in the night that day. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a big producer and filmmaker. And because of that the worker died. He lost his life because of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and his production. Had he followed all the safety norms on the set that day, the worker would have been among us.

Gupta further claimed that similar incidents had allegedly occurred during the production of Bhansali’s previous films as well. “This is not the first incident of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. In his film, DevdasHe took two lives on the set. He took the lives of two people because he did not follow safety norms. Then in 2016, padmavat happened. Another employee died on that set. Then in 2026, another laborer died. Four deaths have occurred repeatedly on his sets.

Explaining why the association has sought criminal action, Gupta said, “That’s why we had asked the AICW to file a murder case against Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He was murdering them. ‘Four workers on your sets are losing their lives. And yet, instead of shooting and learning your lesson, you are continuously killing workers on the sets. You don’t follow safety norms. Today, go and ask the family of the worker whose two Have young daughters and a wife, what do they feel.”

He concluded by stressing on the need for stronger safety standards for workers in the film industry and shared, “You wouldn’t hear the news that a big producer died on the sets or a big actor died. You would hear it every time that a worker died. Why do workers die every time? Because they don’t give safety to workers to save money. That’s why we took the strictest action from AICW by registering a case of murder against Sanjay Leela Bhansali and filing an FIR for the same.” Asked to take action. That’s what we asked.”
