Akshay Kumar’s latest film, Bhoot Bangla, opened on an encouraging note. The horror comedy drama directed by Priyadarshan has collected Rs. Took the opening. Earning Rs 12.50 crore at the Indian box office. With such a start, Bhoot Bangla emerged as Akshay Kumar’s sixth biggest opener in the post-pandemic era, while Sooryavanshi retained its top position.
For an original film with no franchise/universe tag and a non-holiday release, this is actually Khiladi Kumar’s biggest opener in the last few years, especially when you add the previews into it. For the record, the film made Rs. 3.50 crore from paid previews, taking the total to Rs. 16 crores nett in India. Although Sky Force was there, it was heavily aided by external factors.
Akshay Kumar should be appreciated for the quantity of releases that has allowed his films to feature in the top ten list post-pandemic, when most other stars have done 3-4 films, and some of them have even done 1-2 films in the last 5 to 6 years. Yes, most of his films did not perform well, but the importance of a large number of releases to survive at the box office cannot be underestimated, especially when the industry is struggling for films in many weeks of the year.
