Asha Bhosle: A legacy like no other
Asha Bhosle’s demise has left a void in the Indian music industry that can never be filled. His career spanned seven decades, during which he sang more than 12,000 songs in various Indian languages. His collaborations with music directors like RD Burman, OP Nayyar and Shankar-Jaikishan produced some of the most memorable songs in Indian cinema history.
Asha Bhosle passed away at the age of 92 due to age related complications. The singer was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest award in cinema, in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan, the country’s second-highest civilian honour, in 2008.
