The funeral of famous playback singer Asha Bhosle is currently going on at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park, where the iconic artiste is being given full state honours. The solemn ceremony witnessed a huge crowd of political leaders, members of the film fraternity and countless fans who gathered to bid a final farewell to one of the most renowned voices of Indian cinema.

Earlier in the day, his mortal remains were kept at his residence in Lower Parel, allowing the public to have a last glimpse of him. Fans and well-wishers have been arriving in large numbers since the morning, which shows his immense influence on generations of music lovers.
Prominent leaders including Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid floral tributes along with state Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar and MLAs Sunil Shinde and Prasad Lad. The state funeral honor underlines the cultural significance of Asha Bhosle’s unique contribution to Indian music.
From veterans of the 1990s to young artistes, members of the film industry were also present at the ceremony paying tribute to the singer whose voice defined countless eras of Bollywood music. Known for her extraordinary versatility, Asha Bhosle’s repertoire ranged from classical and folk to cabaret and contemporary hits, making her one of the most dynamic playback singers in the history of Indian cinema.
The singer died at Breach Candy Hospital on Sunday at the age of 92. According to official statements, he was admitted on Saturday evening after severe fatigue and chest infection. Despite the efforts of a specialized medical team, his condition deteriorated rapidly due to age-related complications, eventually leading to multiple organ failure.
Popularly known as Ashatai, she was honored with prestigious awards including Padma Vibhushan and Maharashtra Bhushan. As his funeral proceeds with state honours, the nation collectively mourns the demise of a timeless voice whose legacy will echo for generations to come.
