Speaking to Hindi Rush, Ashok said that a producer and director had approached the federation with a complaint regarding the project. According to him, the filmmakers informed FWICE that they have already invested around Rs 45 crore in pre-production and are preparing to start filming.

Ashok alleged that the lead actor left the project just weeks before the shooting began. He further claimed that FWICE followed its standard procedure by contacting Ranveer Singh to hear his side on the matter. However, according to Ashok, the federation did not receive any response from the actor. “We kept sending reminders for one and a half months,” Ashok said, adding that no response was received during that period.

He said FWICE later reviewed the documents and reports submitted by Ranveer’s auditors. According to Ashok, on the day the federation was preparing to announce the non-cooperation directive, he received an email informing him that two representatives of the actor’s team would meet him.

Ashok said that the federation considered the matter serious and decided to proceed on the instructions. However, he clarified that FWICE never banned the actor.

He stressed that accountability should be applied to everyone working in the film industry.

According to Ashok, no person, be it an actor, director, assistant director, cinematographer or spot boy, can walk away from a committed project at the last moment without any results.

He also revealed that efforts were made within the industry to resolve the matter before it escalated. Ashok said, “Many people from the industry, including Aamir Khan, were trying to resolve this issue before it came to us. That also did not work. Today it is Ranveer Singh. Tomorrow it could be someone else. Excel is going through the same thing. Had it been anyone else, they would have gone to hell. They would have sold their house. You can have ten valid reasons for not doing the film. But if the money has been spent because you are committed to the project, then those losses are reimbursed. Should be done.”

This comment has once again drawn attention to the circumstances surrounding don 3 and broader debates about the commitments, accountability, and financial losses associated with large-scale film production.
