With its selection at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival under the Work in Progress segment, the film becomes one of the very few Indian animated films to be screened at this prestigious platform. Remarkably, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and flowwhich won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2025, was also screened in the work in progress segment at Annecy, making it a notable achievement for the Baahubali franchise.
Adding to this milestone, tickets for Baahubali: The Eternal War The work in progress panel was closed within the first two minutes of bookings opening at the festival, indicating the immense anticipation surrounding the project.
The Annecy International Animation Film Festival takes place in the city of Annecy, France in the last week of June. It is a competition between animated films of different techniques (traditional, cut-out, claymation, CGI, etc.) classified into different categories. Throughout the festival, in addition to competing films screened in the city’s various cinemas, an open-air night projection is organized on the Paquier, in the city centre, between the lake and the mountains. According to the theme of the festival, classic or recent films are projected on giant screens. Awards will be presented to all the award winners on Saturday evening.
