Bengaluru Police has registered a case against upscale restaurant Bastian Garden City, co-owned by Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, for operating beyond permitted hours after a viral video of a late-night altercation went viral.
Bengaluru Police books Shilpa Shetty-owned Bastian for late-night operation
CCTV footage from around 1:30am on December 11 captured a verbal altercation between patrons at Bastion on St Mark’s Road, which escalated into a scuffle before staff intervened. Businessman and former Bigg Boss contestant Satya Naidu, identified in the clip, denied any physical confrontation and claimed that he had only gone for dinner with friends, adding that there was confusion during billing.
Cubbon Park police registered a suo motu case under Section 103 of the Karnataka Police Act after reviewing the video, which showed operation of the pub after closure at 1 am without special permission. Managers and staff have been booked and an investigation is underway into whether it reflects a pattern of violations amid a pre-New Year crackdown at the nightlife spot.
Bastion, partnered by Shilpa Shetty along with founder Ranjit Bindra, a premium brand known for its high prices like jasmine tea at Rs 920 and champagne at Rs 1.59 lakh, reportedly generated Rs 2-3 crore per night in Mumbai before its Bandra branch was closed in October. This comes weeks after Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra faced a separate investigation into a Rs 60 crore fraud. A similar case was also registered against Sorberry Pub located on Residency Road
