One vendor reportedly claimed that dues of Rs 30 lakh were pending, while another alleged unpaid bills of Rs 18 lakh. The report also highlighted widespread concerns within the film industry regarding delays in vendor payments and increasing difficulty in recovering dues after a film’s release.
Vendors quoted in the report reportedly said the industry’s previous practice of clearing invoices within 90 days is no longer followed consistently. Some also claimed that actors and key crew members are usually given priority for payment, while vendors and service providers often have to wait for months.
Following the reports, Balaji Telefilms issued an official statement dismissing the allegations and clarifying its position on the matter.
The company said, “In the context of various recent media reports and social media posts regarding certain allegations of non-payment by Balaji Telefilms Limited for the film Bhoot Bangla, it is clarified that the Company has fulfilled all its contractual payment obligations for the film and there are no contractual dues nor anything else payable to any of the vendors appointed by the Company for this film for any services provided by them.”
The production house also stressed that it values its professional relationships and adheres to established corporate standards when dealing with partners and associates.
