The war drama Border 2, featuring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, continues its run at the Indian box office, though signs of fatigue are beginning to show. On its third Friday, the film collected approximately Rs 2.75 crore nett, according to early trade estimates.
This figure marks a 15 percent drop compared to the previous Thursday and a steep 73 percent decline from the film’s third Friday last week. Trade analysts note that such a sharp fall is slightly unexpected, as collections usually stabilise by this stage—especially in the absence of major competing releases. This slowdown has come despite the film receiving largely positive reviews from critics and audiences alike.
Total box office performance so far
With its third Friday earnings added, Border 2 has amassed around Rs 277.75 crore nett in India. The film has shown strong traction over weekends but has witnessed noticeable drops during weekdays.
Trade expectations suggest that the film could collect Rs 13–14 crore nett over its third weekend, which would push the overall total close to Rs 290 crore by Sunday. While Border 2 is expected to comfortably cross the Rs 300 crore nett mark, its lifetime collection is now unlikely to go significantly beyond that figure.
Hit status confirmed, but expectations revised
Border 2 is officially a hit at the box office. At one point, following its powerful extended opening weekend, the film appeared to be on track for a super-hit or even blockbuster verdict. However, the consistent weekday drops ruled out those possibilities.
That said, the film’s performance remains a strong and respectable result, even if it hasn’t matched the sky-high expectations set after the historic success of Gadar 2 (2023).
