The announcement has renewed interest in the planned continuation of the Astroverse, nearly four years after the first film was released in 2022 and teased a bigger story centered on Dev and Amrita.
Speaking about the sequel’s timeline, Malhotra hinted that the next chapter of the franchise will arrive once Ramayana reaches perfection.
Astroverse will continue after Ramayana ends
Malhotra’s update is one of the clearest hints yet about the future of the Astroverse as director Ayan Mukerji has begun hinting at further development post-release. Brahmastra.
The first installment starred Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan, and concluded with a revelation that established Dev and Amrita’s backstory, and laid the groundwork for the second part of the trilogy.

At CinemaCon 2026, Malhotra and Yash launch international promotional campaign Ramayana By presenting early footage and material from the film. Describing the scale and ambition of the project, Malhotra said that the experience of working on the film felt like “Avatar meets Gladiator”.
The film stars an ensemble cast led by Ranbir Kapoor as Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita, while Yash plays the role of Ravana. The cast also includes Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. Other actors seen in the film include Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Arun Govil, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Sheeba Chaddha and Indira Krishnan.
