The Producers Guild of India has issued a strongly worded official statement citing the increasing incidents of talents, directors and technicians reneging on their commitments to producers, often at the last minute. This statement comes at a time when controversies over professional commitments, film schedules and last-minute exits have become major talking points in the industry.
BREAKING: After Ranveer Singh’s exit from Don 3 and Akshaye Khanna’s exit from Drishyam 3, Producers Guild issues strong statement on last minute exit
In its statement, the Producers Guild of India revealed that it has received formal complaints from its members, Excel Entertainment Pvt Ltd and Panorama Studios International Ltd, regarding such issues that emerged days before the commencement of principal photography. Although the guild’s statement did not name any individuals, the timing is significant as both production houses have been in the news recently for high-profile exits from major franchise films.
Excel Entertainment headed by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani is facing a problem after Ranveer Singh’s exit don 3. The film had created immense curiosity ever since Ranveer was announced as the new Don, taking over the iconic franchise after Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. However, his exit from the much-awaited project reportedly created serious complications for the producers, especially when extensive preparations had already been made for the film’s production.
Meanwhile, Kumar Mangat Pathak-headed Panorama Studios International also faced a similar situation after Akshaye Khanna’s exit scene 3. The producer did not like this development. Kumar Mangat Pathak thundered against the last minute exit, and it was the major talking point in the last week of 2025.
In this background, the statement of the Producers Guild assumes greater significance. The guild said no member of the industry should engage in behavior that could result in huge financial losses to producers as well as other sectors of the industry. It further said that such actions have “serious and far-reaching consequences” and undermine the spirit of trust, professionalism and mutual respect on which the film industry is built.
The statement also highlighted that these incidents not only affect the respective producers but could have a cascading effect on the respective films. According to the guild, such actions could cause significant reputational damage, adversely impact the credibility and brand value of the projects, and jeopardize the livelihoods of hundreds of technicians and crew members who depend on these films.
Also, the Producers Guild of India clarified that it is in favor of a free and fair business environment. The guild said it does not encourage any interruption or disruption in the content production process. It further states that any situation contrary to this principle is unethical and harms the collaborative spirit of the filmmaking community.
The statement concluded by urging all parties to resolve their disputes amicably. The guild also said it would strive to protect the interests of the film fraternity.
With the Producers Guild now taking an official stand on the issue, all eyes will be on whether this statement leads to a wider industry discussion around accountability, contracts, professional conduct and dispute resolution mechanisms in Bollywood.
