PVR is having a David Dhawan Film Festival and to celebrate the legendary director the multiplex chain organized a fireside chat. In this, David Dhawan was talking about his life and films with his son Varun Dhawan. Coincidentally, both are also preparing for the release of If you are young then you have to fall in love. This comic film will hit the theaters on June 5. At the end of the programme, David Dhawan talked about the difficulties he faced and how actors would sometimes refuse to work with him.
David Dhawan admitted that he made Chashme Baddoor out of anger: “I wasn’t getting stars. They didn’t reject the film but they were hesitant”.
David Dhawan said, “If a director’s film does not work. So actor look at him and turn somewhere else will go. actor the caste itself is like this! actor nobody’s story” Varun was both happy and strange because he is an actor. This also brought laughter.
David continued, “But there is one actor I worked with who never worried that its film yes yes then no. That actor is Govinda. I remember once, I was upset when my film did not do well. He told me, ‘you script write No’! then I wrote shola and shabnam (1992).”
Varun asked him, “Was there a time when you did not get stars?” He replied, “Yes, I have made May harmful sight not fall on you (2013). I made it in anger. Chintu ji (Rishi Kapoor) was also in the film. He told me, ‘I have no role.’ I replied, ‘You do it, friend.! He did it for me (smiling).”
Varun then asked, “Did you face rejection from some actors?” David explained, “No, but I could feel it. They were hesitant. I wanted to break out of that circle of stars, which was difficult. When one is able to write good scripts and get good songs, that person can make films with new people.”
