Dharma Productions vs Humble Motion Pictures: Bombay High Court dispute over ‘Vyah Kartare Da’ ends amicably, reveals a source
A source close to the production house said, “Dharma Productions had approached the Bombay High Court against Humble Motion Pictures FZCO because Humble had wrongly and without any reason terminated the service agreement for the Punjabi film. the one who gets married. Dharma sought injunctive relief to restrain Humble from taking action on termination, as well as monetary relief of approximately Rs. 7 crores. The parties have now resolved the matter amicably. Humble has withdrawn the termination notice and confirms that it will execute the Services Agreement in full force and effect without any modification.
The petition was filed under Section 9 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, seeking immediate interim protection pending the arbitration proceedings. According to court records, Humble Motion Pictures had sought time to file its reply on February 12, 2026, with the case scheduled for further hearing on February 18.
According to the petition, a service agreement was signed between the two companies on December 10, 2025. Under this arrangement, Dharma was to provide consulting, marketing and associated services the one who gets married. The structure of the agreement reportedly allowed Dharma to recover losses of approximately ₹7.25 crore it reportedly incurred from an earlier joint project between the companies.
Dharma had argued that it had no responsibility for the production cost of the Punjabi film. Instead, it was entitled to specified revenue shares until it recovered a certain sum of Rs. Rs 7.03 crore under the agreement. Controversy arose when Humble Motion Pictures reportedly issued an email dated January 21, 2026, terminating the agreement, saying it no longer wished to avail of Dharma’s services.
In its petition, Dharma argued that the contract did not contain a termination-at-will clause and the company was not held liable for any breach. It also claimed that Humble had already benefited from Dharma’s brand association before the termination notice was issued.
