Highest grossing non-Kollywood films in Tamil Nadu: Kantara Chapter 1 VIII to earn Rs 50 crore

Kantara: Chapter 1 went beyond Rs. With a collection of Rs 50 crore yesterday in Tamil Nadu, it became the eighth non-Kollywood film to score a half-century in the state. The film is holding strong in the state, with the second week registering a decline of only 35 percent compared to the previous week.

On the current trajectory, the film is expected to make Rs. Earnings of Rs 70 crore or so are over, especially with the Diwali holiday period approaching. However, Diwali time also brings competition, and that competition will take away a lot of its performance, starting from Friday. Depending on how much performance the film manages to sustain, it may still make a run for it, but even if not, it will definitely be worth Rs. 60 crores, which is a great result.

Interestingly, Tamil Nadu’s performance in case of original Kantara was a bit weak and it collected only around Rs. Collected. 12 crores. It was the lowest among South Indian states, close to half of Kerala and a third of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. However, this time Tamil Nadu is the biggest state for the film outside Karnataka in the south. The final number for Chapter 1 will be 5 to 6 times that of the original Kantara.
