Hungama and IICT host ‘Lights, Camera, Code’ at Mumbai Tech Week 2026; Neeraj Roy outlines the future of AI storytelling

In his keynote address at IICT today, Neeraj Roy, Founder and CEO of Hungama, outlined the evolution of storytelling by 2030, envisioning a massive AI-assisted creator ecosystem and a new “civilization of AI storytelling”. He highlighted India’s structural advantage driven by young demographics, cultural depth and growing AI adoption and defined four pillars of AI native storytelling: every creator becoming a studio through AI production tools; Languages are becoming global through real-time translation; Narratives are evolving into participatory experiences; And cultural IP is being re-imagined through AI-based storytelling. They also mapped the emerging 2030 stack spanning generative video, autonomous creative agents, narrative intelligence, immersive interfaces, and delivery layers.

Speaking about the collaboration with IICT, Neeraj Roy said, “Mumbai Tech Week is where innovation meets imagination and there is no better platform to talk about the future of storytelling. Our partnership with IICT for ‘Lights, Camera, Code’ is based on a simple belief that India’s next great creators will be those who can use technology as efficiently as they drive narrative. AI and immersive media will power entertainment. The most important thing is that industry and academia can together create that talent and now is the time.”

Vishwas Deoskar, CEO, IICT, said, “For decades, India has exported stories to the world through cinema, music and culture. The next chapter is about exporting technology and creative talent that will power storytelling. At IICT, we are building an ecosystem where artists, coders, designers and entrepreneurs learn to create together, because the future of entertainment will belong to those who can combine imagination with intelligence.”
