A legal dispute has emerged ahead of the scheduled theatrical release of the Hindi film o’romeoSanobar Shaikh, daughter of late Hussain Ustara, has filed a civil suit in a Mumbai court seeking to stop the film from reaching the audience. The lawsuit filed on Monday alleges that the film is an unauthorized biography of his father and inaccurately portrays his life.

Names of Sanobar Shaikh’s case o’romeo Producer Sajid Nadiadwala, director Vishal Bhardwaj and journalist-writer Hussain Zaidi as defendants. They have requested a permanent injunction to prevent the release of the film on its planned date of February 13, 2026, or any later date, unless the court orders otherwise.

According to court documents, the petition argues that no prior consent was taken from the plaintiff before developing the film. It claims that the film was produced “with the intention of commercial and monetary gain” and is based on the biography of Hussain Sheikh, better known as Hussain Ustara.

In his filing, Sanobar stressed his concern over the portrayal of his father. He claimed that the portrayal could cause “irreparable injury” to him and his family, including his children, who he says “deserve to live in peace and good environment in the world.” He also argued that the release of the film could have a “severe impact on the plaintiff’s family members” and “malign the character of the deceased.”

The suit also mentions a prior legal notice that was sent to the producers of the film before the suit was filed. In response to those notices, representatives of Bhardwaj and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment have denied this. o’romeo This is a biographical portrayal, claiming that the film is “purely a work of fiction.”

As part of the relief sought, Sanobar’s petition has requested that the court order pre-screening of the film and appoint an authorized person, such as a court commissioner, to review the content before any public release.

The case is scheduled to be heard by the civil court on February 6, with both temporary and permanent injunctions under consideration. The film, starring Shahid Kapoor and based on Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai, is scheduled to release in theaters on February 13.
